Welcome to Kintaline House
I am Jill Bowis, and I do hope you have a wonderful, comfortable, relaxing stay here at Kintaline. If I can help, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for choosing Kintaline House for your time in the Oban area, I love sharing the house with you, and every booking helps me to look after the beautiful land and ecology that surrounds you here at Kintaline Farm.
The digital guidebook you have all had access to since you booked has lots of information about the house, the area, attractions, events, shops, services, maps etc.
If there is something I can add for the future, please let me know.

Some useful basics :
Lights – all the lights on the ground floor are controlled by wall switches, including the free standing lamps in the living area. There are switches outside the downstairs bedroom for the hallway, walk lights and landing. The first 2 are repeated at the other end of the hall. One outside for the hall toilet. Immediately round the corner of the wall into the sitting area are 3 switches : one for the Standard lamps (these are on a separate circuit, do not turn off at the lamp, you can do so at the socket if you need to please)
Kitchen – the kitchen is very well equipped with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and laundry facilities. The big corner cupboard has lots of crockery, glasses etc, as well as slow cookers, coffee grinder and there are plenty of cooking utensils including an oyster knife for fresh oysters available fresh from the loch a couple of miles from here. (see map)
Please ask if you need anything you cannot find, I am likely to have it next door.
Under the sink and in the utility cupboard by the back door is a range of eco friendly cleaning equipment, please leave the house as you find it on arrival.
The Welcome Pack consists of selection of Argyll produce – if you would like to know where to get more of anything from local producers, I am happy to help. For eggs just ask and I can provide more from our own hens.
Sitting / Dining Room – Please protect the furniture with coasters and mats provided. There are more beside the TV and in the sideboard drawer in the hall.
BBQ – there is a charcoal BBQ outside, utensils are in the cupboard beside the laundry area.
There is a picnic bag in the utility cupboard by the back door, and more Tupperware beside the freezer. Folding chairs beside the back door, umbrellas beside the kitchen door.
The Pink shop in the village is open from early to late and has most essentials and much more besides, including local venison & sour dough bread.
Tralee fish and chips is just around the corner, open from April to October, as is the Hawthorn restaurant and Ben Lora café.
Please be environmentally friendly with energy consumption.
The house is on Economy 10 which means the best times for using high use appliances are
* BST End March to October 1 - 4 pm : 8.30 pm - 12.30am : 4.30 - 7.30 am
* GMT October to End March 2- 5 pm : 9.30 pm - 1.30 am : 5.30 - 8.30 am
This is when the big storage heaters will be on, and the big hot water tank will top up.
There is a booster for the hot water behind the bread bin in the kitchen where you can add ½ - 1 – 2 hours to the water heating up.
The woodstove is the most effective way to cosy up and boost the heating when you get home from your daily adventures. There is plentiful firewood beside the stove and more in the bin behind the back door, further supplies of wood and kindling etc. are available. As soon as you start taking wood from the bin let me know and I will top it up.
The house is triple-glazed, highly insulated and has a heat recovery system throughout to provide constant fresh air that is heated as it is refreshed.
Please do NOT leave bedroom heaters on high when you are out all day.
Likewise do not leave windows open whilst you are away except in the hottest of days outside.
Please turn off all lights at night and when you are out. There are motion-sensitive lights in the hall, the stairs and at the landing to help you see your way around at night.
